Do I need to change the soil on this plant? I bought it about a month ago and I think it’s doing quite well, but the soil has white stuff on the top and I read that could mean it’s time to change it.

    Dirt is dead stuff and alive stuff. Sometimes the alive stuff gets a lil giddy. It's not particularly a threat but if you don't like it you can always brush off the top layer. Never really penetrates deeper than that. It's not generally harmful. If it is, your plant will tell ya and it's pretty fixable so long as your plant itself doesn't have rot issues
