Hello I’ve got a new plant, she is a peace lily, BIG MAMA. And I’ve had her about two weeks now don’t know much about her she is my first. I noticed her leaves are starting to yellow. Why is this happening to her? And if anyone has any, should know care advice please let me know. Thank you 😊

    she's probably a little shocked from the move. plants have to adjust to new environments. if she doesn't start improving in a week or so i'd start being worried. in the meantime i recommend humidifiers for big tropicals like these.

    Peace Lilies are drama queens!! They can be very demanding lol. Seriously they can be difficult. I would cut off the yellow leaves and watch how much you are watering it. They love water but you can overwater. Also they should not be in direct sunlight. Indirect sunlight is best. Good luck!!

    My first peace lily was a Home Depot rescue and I actually only purchased it for the cool self watering pot it was in. Turns out that’s the perfect pot for it because I’ve had to split it in half 3 times in 1.5 years because it grows like crazy. Sucker is always blooming too. This most recent split I almost threw up in my mouth, the soil smelled like poo and was growing a funky mushroom! This frigging plant never batted an eyelash, it looked healthy as ever. Was like, “yah, that stink is me. You got a problem with that?” I’m thinking about making it my first true hydroponic plant with clay pebbles. Quite sure it will LOVe it Yellow leaves sometimes happen as it grows, but a lot should be a concern. Definitely give it some time to adjust and keep watching it. My recs are: Light: should be indirect (like for real, not like when a plant tags says “bright indirect” and the plant is like no, I want FULL sun or else) Soil: should be moist but not soggy. If it wants more water trust me, it will tell you by going all sad and droopy on you. Pot: it’s one of the few I don’t put in terracotta because the soil moisture evaporates too quickly. The one I do have in terracotta drives me nuts. Every few days she wants more water. Self watering pot works great, just don’t do what I did to miss poopy pants - my mistake for a few waterings was filling the reservoir with water AND watering the soil. Too much!
