HELP. How to get rid of fungus gnats? I tried EVERYTHING
Other than mosquito bits, the only other thing that worked for me was taking the plant out of the pot getting all the soil off washing the plant really well and planting in all new soil. That took care of it... for a while anyway. 𫤠They are precocious little buggers.

I second this. Repotting with fresh soil and sticky traps to get rid of any lingering stuff. Iāve also sprayed roots with hydrogen peroxide before repotting, but that can be a little risky. The only 100% effective method Iāve tried is repotting with new soil. A lot of work, but itās super worth it not to have flies buzzing about.
2 likesUugh theyāre so annoying :( I did repot most of my plants but they keep coming back

Death drops. Also letting your plants dry out more in between watering

Happy Happy Houseplant sells it. You add it to the water. Mosquitoe bits also work, but I found those were more susceptible to growing moldy
1 likeMicrobiolift drops for ponds in every watering. Same stuff BTi that's in mosquito bits
2 likesAside from the sticky traps Iāve tried 2/3 water to 1/3 isopropyl alcohol and mist it on your plants and the soil. Tried it a couple of days ago for my plants and it seemed to have worked. I added a bit more water to alcohol ratio because I didnāt wanna harm my plants and the gnats have gone down in amount. Alternating that with cinnamon seems to have worked well!
1 likeI let my plant dry out almost completely, repotted with more drainage, and topped with pine mulch. I havenāt had any problems since
1 likeI tried that, theyāll come in from the bottom AND they live even in the plants that have dry soil. And my soil is well draining :(

0 likesI tried that too. They just get in the bottomš¤”š
0 likesYou can use cinnamon powder on the soil. I unfortunately canāt post a link here but if you go to YouTube. Search forā¦how I eliminated fungus gnats on my houseplants by Sheffield Made Plants. I found this helpful. Good luck!! šš½
0 likesHi there, I use yellow sticky traps to trap the adults fungus gnats and to get rid of the larvae, water with a larvicide called Vectobac. Itās a bacteria that you add to the water, watering once in week one then once a week later and thatās it.
0 likesOh also to deal with the larvae you can use beneficial nematodes. I havenāt tried that option as the bacterial larvicide was easier to source where I am.
