Fiddle leaf fig new leaves are showing reddish brown spots also more crinkly looking. Was thinking previous owner had inconsistent watering patterns? Could be edema? I’ve checked everywhere and 0 signs of pests. New leaves seem very flimsy at first but always strengthen up after about 1-2 weeks. Please lmk if you have any ideas! Recently misted. Well draining soil and regular watering now. About 3 feet from east/southeast facing windows.

It’s definitely edema. Inconsistent watering will do that to fiddle leaf figs. At least for my fig plant, her red spots have almost disappeared, and her new leaves are bright and shiny and beautifully green; so much prettier than the old leaves, even though the red spots have disappeared. I think you’re on the right track! Good luck! 😊💚🪴
