Please help!! I just got this cat tail palm about 5 days ago. I had one leave yellow and start drooping. I noticed one small thripe bug. (play was still in its nursery plastic pot). I gave it a thorough rinse/bath, let it drain, then sprayed insecticide all over the plant. I then repotted with some fresh soil (miracle grow potting soil) Today I’m noticing these little brown egg like things on yellow spotting. Any one have advice? I really want her to thrive!! Sorry for the image quality, I tried my best but they’re super tiny lol

Good for you for doing all those steps initially, the only problem I’d say is that using miracle grow soil, a lot of people have said that that soil brand seems to have eggs of pests in it before even buying. Especially since it’s usually left outside before you buy it at the store. Thats the only thing I could think of that led to the pests coming back

I added soil to the existing after seeing the first bug. Maybe it brought in more 😭

Ooohhhh, noooo lol 😬😬so when you repot especially when you have pests or rot issues, do not ever ever reuse old soil. That would be like if you got sick from some old soup but you didn’t throw it out and just mixed some new soup into the old soup. You’ll still get sick. It’s just the same with your plants, so I’d get some well draining tropical soil with extra perlite and spray off the roots and sterilize the existing pot and then put the completely new soil in there and retreat your palm. 😬
