This is my mom’s work lily. It looked great until someone else started watering it too for some stupid reason and it started dropping leaves like crazy. She brought it home six-ish weeks ago to prevent the overwatering. I cleaned it up a month ago when I visited, but the problem seems to be persisting so I think it’s more an overwatering issue now. does anyone know what is causing this and how to fix this? *the white splotches are from a treatment she tried*

What was the treatment your mom tried? What do you mean that the problem is persisting - that it’s dropping more leaves, or those brown areas are getting worse? (I don’t know your experience with plants so I’m sorry if you know these things already) Keep in mind that those brown patches aren’t going to go away on the leaves that already have them! Just based on looks, the yellow rings around the brown spots suggest maybe too much light… What were the lighting conditions like at the office vs at home?

Did she clean it up by removing the rotten roots and disinfecting the root system? Did she replace all of the soil? The yellowing can also indicate root rot. All of the rot has to be removed or the plant will keep dying. The plant can also be stressed from the change in the environment from the office to the home. It needs similar light and humidity as the previous building to quickly recover. It still takes time. 🪴🍀

Definitely check the root system and if you can chop a way dead roots and gain new roots or even start all over wit the stem by cutting all dead roots and research how it can be propagated if you did away from the old root system.

Look up fusarium fungus. If it's a match, then cut off the affected leaves and spray a fungicide on the rest to help prevent it from spreading. Also check the roots for rot; trim and treat with hydrogen peroxide if you see any issues
