Lots of people use neem oil on the soil which is supposed to kill the eggs. I also recommend the yellow sticky traps to catch the adult gnats before they lay eggs in the soil. Also with the Money Trees it’s best to let the top of the soil dry out before watering it again. Fungus gnats love moist soil so hopefully letting it dry out more in between waterings deters them too!

Buying those two things right away! And I will keep that suggestion in mind next time I water
2개 좋아요Had similar problem thanks to an indoor tomato plant. Neem spray didn't do anything for me. I used the sticky traps then watered in Mosquito Bites but then switched to this which I now put in as an additive to my regular water mix. Adds a hormone that disrupts insect larvae but is harmless to plants.
2개 좋아요I had this problem! I tried neem oil and the yellow patches, they helped a little but the gnat infestation I had was too much for those fixes. My solution was soaking my money tree in a water and castile soap solution for about 15-30 minutes and repotting it in a fresh pot with fresh soil, haven’t had a problem since. Hope this helps!
2개 좋아요Yes I agree sometimes the gnat problem is too out of hand and you just have to restart with fresh soil.

Annoying problem to have! Hopefully my gnat problem goes away with the neem oil and sticky traps or I’ll give your last tip you mentioned a try
좋아요 1개Hydrogen peroxide helps a lot kill the last remaining gnats or any gnats in the soil.
0개 좋아요I’ve never tried that!! How do you give the peroxide? Do you spray it?
0개 좋아요You pore 1/4 part Hydrogen and 3/4 water on to your plants soil. Try to get it very even around the entire thing and if it bubbles or makes a popping noise it is working. You can do it twice to be sure you got all the gnats in your soil. I wouldn’t do it more than 3 times because it could harm your plant and kill the soil.
좋아요 1개i have a sticky trap set up by my plants. anytime i repot, i mix in some mosquito bits so that when they’re watered they’ll dissolve in the soil for prevention. the best pest spray i’ve ever used has been homemade. here’s the recipe: 2 cups water, 2 tbsp neem oil to prevent reproduction, 1 tbsp peppermint castile soap, 1 tsp isopropyl alcohol (make sure not to add too much). when you spray, spray until the plant is dripping wet, and be sure to get the underside of leaves and the stems. then i like to go in with a microfiber towel on the leaves so there isn’t any water spots (more so this step is just for aesthetics). hope this is helpful!
