I recently saw videos of people keeping these hydroponically. Worth a shot

If you go this route, make sure to use distilled water. Mine is about dead due to lime buildup

Agree! I used distilled and add nutrient drops about once a month

what kind of water are you using for this plant? prayer plants are incredibly sensitive to chemical additives and excess minerals in their soil

I use sink water :( should I start using distilled? Or filtered? I had another calathea and it isn’t doing so good either

Filtered water might make a difference. My calathea gets filtered water and it seems to be happy. It also likes if I give its leaves a good rinse-off with a gentle spray from the faucet, kind of simulating some rain :) I do this during regular watering when its leaves get droopy

i would suggest using filtered water with a tiny bit of aquarium water conditioner (one drop per gallon will break down any chlorine/chloramines in the water) and a few drops of vinegar if you feel like it to imitate the acidity of rainwater. you can use distilled but i avoid it due to the prohibitive cost and how wasteful it is

Mine looks exactly like this and is down to 3 leaves. I keep a humidifier on and put it under a grow light and it seems to be doing better. I also switched to filtered water & changed the soil for fresh soil. Goodluck these plants are so beautiful but so tough haha

Your soil looks dry. Is it getting enough water? Definitely use distilled water 💦 for calatheas…they’re drama queens…I have 2 and they’re never happy! 🤣🪴

Your soil looks pretty dry based on the pictures and maybe compacted? All my Calatheas are in well draining soil and are happy

Mist with a water bottle too, that’s what I do for mine
