GUYS PLEASE SOMEBODY TELL ME!!! I just picked up this monstera albo and it has been rooting in water for a while. It’s been doing great but I noticed that the roots started to have a brown layer. I’ll provide a picture from 2 days ago vs. today. The brown part is squishy but you can feel the healthy root underneath the is firm and healthy. It has tons of new growth even from 2 days ago. But I’m still worried about the brown! I change the water every couple days. I was planning to move it to moss or coco chips or something more solid soon BEFORE completely replanting in an aroid mix. Is this bad?! What should I do?!

I wouldn’t worry, I’ve noticed when I take cutting from older nodes growth is like this, If you see the actual plant decline then I would worry otherwise I think it’s fine

So the only thing I have noticed is some browning slightly on only 1 leaf that looks like this but the other leaf looks good.

It looks like it was an aerial root to begin with, it’s now growing a water root, same when transferring from soil, those roots die off to produce new water roots

Oh really?! That makes sense. I guess I was just nervous that the brown part is spreading. If the large main root dies, won’t all the small growths on it die too?? Should I be worried ?!

The brown fuzz is very normal for a water rooted cutting, the browning leaf might be from it taking more energy to build roots. Pretty plant 🪴
