Hi everyone! I was going to water my Chinese money plant when I noticed these in the back of 2 leaves. They’re not bugs but seem like crusting embedded in the bottom side of the leaf. Do anyone know what this is or the cause of it? Thank you!

They look pest like to me … thrips maybe? Or the beginnings of mealy bugs? Not sure let’s see what others think. There have been quite a few posts the the last couple of days with this kind of white buildup on the back of leaves (seems to all be same kinds of plants) and the consensus seems to be that it’s normal and has to do with salt/mineral in the water you use. But those pictures compared to this one look different to me … those were more round and uniform where as yours is not of uniform size or shape.

Thank you!! I assumed bugs as well but upon closer inspection it looks like crusting just in an unusual shape and I could not scratch it off. Sadly this is the best photo quality could get.

may be mineral build up exuding. do you use tap water?
