Hello again, I posted a few weeks ago about my Thai monstera, and I followed everyone’s advice and trimmed the leaf that looked affected and moved it so less chance of direct light. It seems to have taken a turn for the worse now, and the windy conditions lately aren’t being super kind to it. I’m going to repot into something bigger/heavier so l can try to give it more stability but what else could possibly be causing this browning? It’s now at the base of stems now too and I’m so confused. This plant has been THRIVING, I got it in April as a baby thing and it’s taken off and this browning has only begun in the past three weeks.

    Not ire if it's correct but I did a screenshot and asked my PlantAI app: From the image, it can be seen that the leaves of your Swiss Cheese Plant have developed large brown spots, and the surrounding areas have turned yellow. This is a typical symptom of bacterial infection. Causes of Infection 1. Poor Ventilation Bacteria thrive in humid and stuffy environments. If the Swiss Cheese Plant is placed in a poorly ventilated area, it is more susceptible to bacterial infections. 2. Insufficient Light Swiss Cheese Plant prefers bright, indirect light. If it is placed in a low-light environment for a long period, its growth will be affected, weakening its resistance and making it more prone to infections. 3. Inadequate Watering Improper watering can cause the roots of the Swiss Cheese Plant to become waterlogged or dry out, affecting their normal function and increasing the risk of bacterial invasion. Treatment Measures 1. Pruning For the brown spots and yellowing areas on the leaves, it is recommended to use sterilized scissors to trim off these parts to prevent the bacteria from spreading further. 2. Improving Ventilation Move the Swiss Cheese Plant to a well-ventilated area, such as near a window. If the indoor environment is stuffy, open windows for 1-2 hours daily to ensure air circulation. 3. Adjusting Light Place the Swiss Cheese Plant in a bright area with indirect sunlight, ensuring it receives 3-6 hours of light daily. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent leaf scorch. 4. Watering Control Water the Swiss Cheese Plant when the topsoil is dry, ensuring thorough watering each time. Avoid waterlogging by ensuring the pot has drainage holes and removing excess water from the tray after watering. 5. Fungicide Spraying If the infection is severe, consider using natural fungicides such as neem oil. Dilute according to the instructions and spray on the leaves every 7-10 days for 2-3 cycles. Recovery Expectations Within 2-3 weeks after taking the above measures, the infection symptoms should gradually reduce. When you notice that the Swiss Cheese Plant starts to grow new leaves, it indicates that the plant is out of danger and recovering.

    I would hesitate to move to a bigger pot. The best way to tell if it needs a repotting is if it’s about 80% roots and looks like ramen noodles.
