I just moved into a new apartment and I’m noticing growth on the top of my soil and on the outside of one of my pots. I’m very confused. Is it a type of fungi? Do I need to be worried? It looks kinda like frost.

    That’s the mycelia of some kind of normal soil fungus. It’s probably more humid in your new apartment which allows it to grow outside of the soil structure. The growth on the bottom of the pot is probably growing outwards from the drainage hole, the growth on top of the soil is very normal and most people get it eventually. It’s a sign of good soil health and moisture levels but if you don’t see it dry out on the surface between waterings it’s a good indicator of root rot. I’d check the humidity level in the room and if you’re seeing more than 60% it’s high enough to grow fungus ambiently.

    top of the soil is a common fungus called flowerpot parasol, not harmful to your plants and can signal good soil quality but can also signal overwatering for some plants. the white buildup on the pots is mineral deposits from your water, also not harmful.
