help! my calathea has slowly been dying, the leaves are turning yellow then brown. i’ve been following the correct mist/water/fertilization schedule, any tips??

    Best guess would be that it’s overwatered. Planta is a guideline because all variables are impossible to plan. A moisture meter may be a good investment to help decide when to water. The other possibility is your tap water. Calatheas do best with distilled water or filtered water. And if you’re misting that’s a double whammy to the plant. A third possibility is your pot may be too large for the root ball. Even if watering correctly if there is too much soil compared to roots, much of the soil will remain wet.

    Browning tips on a Calathea could mean low humidity. But checking the roots is definitely a good place to start. Looks like you have a little fungus growth (yellow stuff at base of plant). It could indicate too much moisture.
