Is this a fungus or mealworms , I think they are called ??? I’m new to cacti . This doesn’t look good and I’m worried

    Not mealworms. Maybe a fungus but I'm not sure. I get those on my cacti sometimes. No clue what causes it.

    You could try treating it with a systemic fungicide. It almost looks like corking to me, especially bc it’s right at the “weakest” spots of the plant. Where there’s new pads attached to the main stem they need to reinforce themselves Some people also say this is a virus but of the cacti virus I could find, they don’t look like this.

      I just googled corking. I have a few cactus with that (I have a ton of cacti) but never knew what it was, so thank you. 👍🏼

    If its soft or mushy or integraded its not corking. You can try a fungicide. If it's viral, there's nothing to do unfortunately, however most cacti don't perish from it. If it's corking it'd be hard and like peelable.
