Does my soil look like it is a little moldy? Or is it just dusty? I went to water it today and was moving the soil to see if it was damp and noticed some fuzzyish looking stuff and cant tell what it is. Also the plant is a Thai constellation if that helps (or if you have any suggestions for the soil to better help the plant… it has yet to sprout any new growth since I got it in Sept)
Is any of the white on the actual plant itself? I had mealy bugs which made the soil look like this but it was over the plant as well :)

it is probably mold. however, mold like this is not harmful to the plant and is very common when the soil stays wet for too long. reconsider watering schedule / how you water. top watering makes soil mold extremely more likely.

It’s likely mold (fungus) if it’s fuzzy. It likely salt/mineral buildup from hard water or fertilizer use if it’s crystalline, crusty or sandy. Check online for procedures to flush the soil of salt buildup. Use a fungicide to stop the mold. Get better air circulation to the soil. Let the top soil dry out more between watering. Bottom water as suggested. Water when the soil dries down and not by a strict schedule. 🪴🍀
좋아요 1개At that stage, it could be mineral buildup, mold, or the start of a fungal bloom. Look up flowerpot parasol and you can see what harmless fungi types will do. Harmful molds would try to grow on the plant. Mineral buildup forms more of a crust than a fuzz
