Hey guys I need some help. I recently bought this Tradescantia from aldi’s lol and some of its leaves are browning. There were about two brown leaves when I bought it but now it’s spreading a bit. At the same time it seems to be thriving? Is it something I need not worry about? I bought it about 2 weeks ago and I’ve never watered it because the soil has still been wet. Any recommendations as to what I should do??? Also what’s this I hear about them turning purple??? Thanks in advance!

I have a few tradescantia. In my personal experience it’s just the normal dying off of older leaves. I don’t know for sure, but that’s my best guess.

Okay should I just trim them off?

That what I usually do. Again, definitely not an expert 🙂.

Yes, just clean it up a bit. If the soil is staying too wet too long you might want to change the soil. There are varieties that turn varying shades of purple but not all of them.

I'd take them browning leaves off, so you can kinda keep track of it keeps going on. They can stress in a new home and have leaf browning. And yes, a fair amount of tradescantia either are purple or they can be sun stressed to purple. It can take a bit of trial and error as you need high light. But too high can also scorch them.
