This is Pete! He’s some kind of mini palm. I got Pete from work where he wasn’t doing very well, so I brought him home to try to help him recover. I trimmed off all the dead parts, but the new growth has been dry for a while now. I repotted him a couple of days ago and have been misting the leaves with water, as well as watering the soil every 3–5 days depending on how dry it feels. I’m just looking for some advice — do you think he will survive?

If there is green there is a way. Id try to keep in a bathroom if possible. If not give a humidifier. Also idk if it has a drainage hole in the pot but always include one and water deeply. Add more perlite into the soil as well to prevent rot.

I’d skip misting — it doesn’t do much for humidity, and water sitting on leaves can sometimes lead to fungal issues. How deep are you checking the soil before watering? At least the top 2” should be dry before watering; every 3–5 days might be a bit frequent for a palm, as they usually like to dry out a little more between waterings. If you’re able, it might be worth unpotting and checking the roots. The stem looks a little soft in the photo, so trimming away any mushy roots and repotting into a smaller pot with a gritty mix and good drainage could help it recover. 🌿
