Hey all! So, my girlfriend and I just moved in together. We’ve combined our plant inventory and now I’m taking care of a some new plants. Their Snake Plant isn’t doing to hot and I’m not sure what to do to help it. I’ve repotted it, it has drainage and I’m ensuring I don’t overwater it. I see some new leaves beginning to grow but the original leaves haven’t changed much and I’m not sure if I should leave them alone or cut them off. Here are some photos of it! The leaves are drooping and are white and dry in some areas.

A snake plant will not grow out of tips that have turned brown. If any of the tips turn brown, like this leaf, the leaf will not longer grow. It needs to have a fully green tip to grow. They stay the exact same height, shape, and condition once they get damaged. Essentially, the leaf will no longer change or grow. Looking at your leaves, they all have a significant amount of browning, so they will not change. You can snip them if you want to make it look nicer, but personally, I don’t know how much it would grow without something to absorb some sunshine. I have always left mine until there was significant new growth to help absorb some light. If this were my plant, I would wait for the new growth to come in so that the plant regrows. I hope this helps.

Once you get new growth, as long as they stay green, like this, they will keep growing taller and wider.

Also looks like the pot is way too big. Snake plants like to be root bound. Too much room can halt the growth and cause root rot

Ohhh, I didn’t know that! Thank you, I’ll definitely start looking for a smaller and better pot

Did you by chance have recommendations for size or type of pot?

One with the drainage holes and size varies depending on how large your snake plant it but I would say 5-8 inch pot or so. You want the roots to have a little bit of room but just not as much as it has now.
