what is this insect? been seeing a few around some of my plants recently, not sure if i should be concerned.

    They won’t hurt your plants but they’re annoying. They lay their eggs in the soil. I control them by sprinkling the top of the soil with mosquito bits. About once a month. Depending on where you live and how you water, they can be difficult to fully eradicate. Usually you’re doing well just controlling them. They’re not filthy bugs like fruit flies or flies, so they’re not attracted to scent such as vinegar, so don’t make the mistake of thinking a fruit fly trap will work. They’re attracted to light like mosquitos. Use ChatGPT and Google to find different ways to manage them. But no, they will not hurt your plants.

    These strips are great if I see the gnats flying around or in the soil of a plant I stand one of these in the soil and leave it for a while to catch the babies as well when they hatch.
