I spotted thrips on my red maranta. Any advice on how to treat this guy or plants in general? I don't notice a ton, but I'm nervous they may have spread to my other indoor plants.

quarantine it for sure! I blast the plant with my shower head then use a systemic insecticide for thrips since they can lay eggs in the leaf. i think it’s easier too than treating it a bunch of times. Just make sure you get an insecticide that says it will treat thrips.
2개 좋아요Should I dilute it first before using? Or just spray directly on and in the soil? Also, stupid question lol, but how long do you spray your plants for? Any issues with your plants using tap? I'm a newbie and used to always kill plants lol but a lot of people have told me to use purified or distilled water 💧

0개 좋아요Depends on which kind of insecticide. Some come pre diluted! I use the granules just bc I find it easier, you just sprinkle it on the soil, I like to poke it down a bit. Then you just water it in. I try to really spray each leaf to make sure I’m blasting the bugs away. I try to avoid the soil, if I’ve just recently watered but it’s inevitable to get water in the soil. Really depends on your tap as well, our city water tests really well and the only plant I’ve struggled with is my peace lily. If you’re worried about the tap you can also just wipe the leaves down! I wipe them with diluted vinegar and water.

0개 좋아요Diluted Neem oil will suffocate anything living on the leaves, if you use Neem oil you’ll want to do it at night and try not to give the plant too much light after applying. I don’t like Neem only bc of the smell 🤣 I honestly couldn’t tell you the ratio for my vinegar wipe, I just put some vinegar on a paper towel and then get it wet. I just squeeze out the extra so it’s not dripping.
