Found out millipedes aren’t bad for your plants… but anyways today was the first hot day since last summer and found about 100 of these in my monstera plant that’s INSIDE. Not sure if the heat triggered them but I’ve never seen one in my plant till today, about 20 on the soil and 20 dead in the water catching tray… Do you think they were hibernating in there this whole time??? I’ve never seen a single one and I’ve had this plant for about a year
Idk if they are good but i would get them out of there asap so they don't spread. Bugs creep me out!!
좋아요 1개I did a quick search and they don’t harm the plant, they can actually be beneficial in the sense they eat dead plant parts! But super gross and the plant is outside for awhile !!

I had them in the same way in a jungle cactus. Nothing to a crapload of millipedes seemingly overnight. 🤷

0개 좋아요I have no idea how they get in, but if you want to deter them, remove any leaf litter, eliminate hiding spots (they like narrow damp crevices, like under plant pots, so risers or pot feet can help), consider decreasing humidity (obviously some plants may need that), and increase air flow
