I’m hoping someone can help my Monstera he’s not doing well it’s drooping and it feels like it’s getting weaker. The leaves are turning as well. I’m not sure if it’s outgrown it pot and I should split the plant up about a year ago and another bag of organic soil about two months ago.

Honestly looks like the pot is too big, it should only be 1-2” larger than the root ball. The drooping could be from overwatering, or underwatering. I’d unpot and check the roots for rot, then repot in something smaller.

How do you know when it’s outgrown a pot? I went for the larger pot because it was growing so fast! How should I clean the roots with hydrogen peroxide? Should I cut any roots? Am I ok to reuse the same soil? Any suggestions on pot sizes? Should I use lava rocks and soil to repot ?

I agree the pot looks very large. The excess soil can hold excess water on the roots too long causing root rot. The yellow leaves look like root rot. Check the roots for rot. Disinfectant with hydrogen peroxide , if needed. Also, are there drainage holes in the pot? Standing water can cause rot.

Let’s break it down into sections. When to repot: - Repot when the roots are overgrown meaning there is more roots than soil or the roots are bound up and blocking drainage. - Repot when the soil has issues such as holding excess water, has pests or the potting mix is not the right blend for the plant Pot size: The new pot should only be 2 inches wider than the old pot. It gives enough room for new roots to grow without excess soil. The plant can’t use all the water in the excess soil. So, the roots rot from bacteria in the wet soil. Root Rot: Pull out the plant from the pot. Check for soft mushy roots that smell. Remove all the damaged and smelly roots. Rinse the cleaned roots with full strength hydrogen peroxide. Also, disinfect cutting tools before and after use. Disinfect the pots and hands to prevent spreading infection. Soil Reuse and Potting mix: Do not reuse soil that has caused rotten roots. It’s full of bacteria and may stink. There are several combinations of soil mix that can work for a monstera. Check online. It just needs to have good drainage. The one in your pot looks fine with lots of perlite.
