I rescued a fuchsia today and it seems to have white powdery looking stuff all over it, I’m thinking it’s either pollen (gotta have some hope right?) or mealybugs, but I’m really not sure as I’ve seen no movement at all and it just looks like the pollen on the flower so I have no idea. Come someone shed some light? I do have some neem oil on hand so I’m debating just giving it a spray but I’m also not sure if that’s strong enough? Please help🥀

To add - it was in a crowded bunch of flowers including other fuchsias and all the fuchsias had this on them, but nothing on any other flowers nearby, which made me think it was pollen cos surely if it was bugs they would infest the other plants? (See pic of Begonia I bought, places underneath the fuchsias, which doesn’t have any white residue on it)

Try rinsing the whole plant off and keep away from other plants just in case and see if it comes back… if it is mealy bugs then they will be back soon enough

Thanks guys, I don’t want them to die cos they’re so pretty🥺I’m going to rinse them tonight, they’re currently isolated to the bedroom until further notice, should I use neem oil or just rinse off with water?

i would rinse them with plain water, with an outdoor hose if you have access, and then spray thoroughly with lightly soapy water to kill any of the hidden remaining bugs. i’m pretty sure it’s some kind of pest and i usually recommend castile soap as a general insecticide since it works on most small, soft-bodied insects.
