Does this look like spider mites to yall? I saw a small house spider near this plant recently, but i let it be in hopes itd catch potential gnats and flies. I’m not sure if this webbing is from a regular spider or spider mites. If yes, do any of yall have cat-safe treatment tips? And other care to make this calathea feel better :)

Hard to tell unless you had a closer pic of the bugs/ white specks. Personally I would remove them as it could get worse fast. I would move the plant to a space of its own if it isn’t already by itself. I use 70% isopropyl alcohol with a qtip or cotton swab to manually remove the webs and “bugs”. I do this every 3 days until gone as well as using an insecticidal soap spray from bonide as a preventative but not sure if the soap is cat safe.

it does im sorry bestie 💔💔💔 id give her a good and thorough shower to wash em all off, and then treat all the nooks and crannies of all the leaves with ur bug murder juice of choice- neem oil, diluted alcohol, dr bronners soap etc. you will most likely have to treat it every few days bc of the life cycle / eggs hatching. another option would be to buy and release predatory insects onto the plant, but that can be expensive.

i would honestly treat it in the most effective way and keep it somewhere ur kitty cannot access it until the treatment is over
