The plant is getting rid of that which does not serve it any longer. When I’m trimming a plant back I usually take off any extra stem or brown leaf. Sometimes a stem/vine goes brown on its own for the same reason. The plant doesn’t need that part any more so it stops taking care of it. Cutting it back to just below the new sprout will help the plant put energy towards the parts still alive/healthy/useful.

It could be getting rid of excess baggage if something is wrong with the plant like under watering, low fertilizer or low light.

I will fertilize it soon I just got new fertilizer that could be why it’s slowing down growth

you can propagate the little plant that is growing off of the stem. just cut the stem close to where it buds, leaving just the bud and the bit of stem that it was attached to first. plop it in some soil then it should grow fine. otherwise, just cut the whole thing off. it just takes energy away from the plant.
