Hi. I had a Cyprus and tropical plant on the front porch this past summer. I sprayed them with soap and changed the soil when I brought them in this fall. I was then plagued with gnats. I have done sticky tape, a sticky tape light, soap and even tried Hydrogen peroxide 3%. 4 tbsp per quart water to treat for eggs. They finally killed another tropical that was beside them. I finally put the two plants both outside again to get ahead. It seems to be working but it is getting cold out. Any suggestions?

You'd have to completely unpot... outside ideally... spray down the roots to get rid of any eggs or larvae. And repot with new soil. You can sterilize the soil before hand. Side note... 1:3 ratio is ideal peroxide for killing gnats if that's your pest killer of choice, yours was way to diluted, and probably why it didn't work completely. And you'll want to treat every plant at this point, if you had adults gnats in the house

water with mosquito bits or dunks to treat the eggs/larvae, keep the sticky traps for the adults and just stay consistent with treatment for a while. better draining soil helps too — low or no peat content

I use microbe lift bmc drops, I had a bad infestation and tried everything like you, a plant influencer recommended the bmc drops. I use it with every single watering on all plants (1 drop per gallon) and I barely see a gnat now.

I wish I had asked this community sooner. I went to report outside today and most of the root was gone and there were tons of eggs. We said goodbye. I won't put plants outside next summer.
