I just can’t anymore. I’m losing my mind. I’ve talked to four “plant experts” including people from Dr Planta— My caladium has brown spots. It has brown spots on new growth, old growth, green growth, pink growth. The spots are growing, and becoming crispy. I can hardly believe it’s sunburn considering how soft the light is where she’s at. Roots are gorgeous, she’s watered appropriately, she has a pebble tray, no pests, indirect soft light. I’ve tried neem for fungus, it seems to have made it worse She has cosmocote, orchard bark, potting mix and perlite. Please please help. I’m going away for two weeks and I know she’s going to be dead when I get back if I don’t figure this out 😭

Alrighty, soooo I think that it could be one of two things or both. Caladiums are very temperamental, Goldilocks type of plants. So, one, the pebble tray might not be enough humidity, might need to invest in a humidifier for it. Or, two, it could be that your tap water is too hard for it, sometimes the minerals in your water can be too much for the plant and it’ll show in the leaves. Hopefully that helps 😬

Gotcha, ambient humidity in my town is 69% right now. What % do they like? I live in a pretty humid area.

I’ll also start watering with filtered water, do you think that will work?

Yep! Filtered water will work just fine, yeahhh idk, caladiums like 50-80% so it might be the water

If it is a water issue you could also give water conditioner a try

What’s that? I’ve also recently visited the nursery and all their caladiums have signs of the beginning stages of this issue :/
