Ok here’s what I’m thinking. I bought this monstera a couple of years ago and the prior owner kept it in a rather dog place so it’s gotten quite leggy. You can see right to left how thin the main stem is and then it begins to slowly thicken. I’m afraid it won’t be able to bear the weight eventually so I’m thinking…chop and prop? Air layer? How do I just remove that two foot long section of leggy stem and keep the thicker growth on top? Thoughts?

You can propagate it. You still have to support this type of monstera. Clip it if you want more plants or a cleaner look. No need to propagate because of a skinny base if the plant is happy and healthy.

That thing is begging on its knees crying for a moss pole. At least redirect the aerial roots into the dirt.

All the aerial roots have been redirected and I’ve been thinking a lot about a moss pole. It’s not too late to establish one on a plant this old?
