This a pic of an heirloom tomato plant that I brought into the house about 3 weeks ago because it was getting too cold at night and I had only gotten two tomatoes from it. I just threw it out today and when I dumped out the soil there was larvae in the soil. I believe it is fungus gnats as they are flying all over my house. I treated my plants (not edible plants) with a systemic insecticide and yet these bugs persist. Help!!! Please.

The systemic will take a bit of work to keep them at bay. First, the ones already flying need to die, then after the designated time (8weeks or so) give it another treatment of systemic to kill any remaining larvae in the soil. I hate these gnats, currently dealing with an infestation myself. They are EXTREMELY difficult to get rid of. But u made the right choice, u need to go systemic with these, neem oil won’t cut it.

Thank you so much. I need to be vigilant and then have patience. All the best with your fight, too.
