Repotted all of my plants about 2 weeks ago. I gave my plants water with the repotting, and this one plant has had none of the water! The soil is still completely wet even though the pot has drainage and it’s even starting to mold on top! However, even though the plant isn’t drinking any water, it still appears to be super happy and healthy. What’s more strange is that I live in dry Colorado where things dry out very quickly! Any ideas on what’s going on and what I should do?
Just a theory but could it have something to do with its leaves? With all of its leaves being predominantly pink and not green it might be having a hard time using its roots

Hi there, I find aglaonema are slow drinkers but the soil staying wet for a long time is probably more to do with the soil. When repotting I would make sure you have about 20-25% perlite in there to ensure there’s adequate aeration, it shouldn’t stay as wet for as long as well. Best of luck! 🌿🌿🌿

I live in the Springs and was having the same problem with the weather change! I started bottom watering for 20-45 minutes depending on pot size, and it seems to have helped!
1 likeAre you using moisture retaining soil by chance? I repotted my peace lily in some and it stayed wet for far too long and also started to grow mold. I dumped it out and created my own potting mix with coco coir, perlite, horticultural charcoal, orchid pine bark and some worm castings. I haven’t had that issue since.

I think the pot is too big for the size of the plant you have, leaving it in a lot of excess moist soil, which is why it’s taking a long time to dry out. My rule of thumb is to make sure the pot is no more than 1-2 inches wider in diameter than the width of the plant’s root ball. Aglaonema also tend to do well with getting more root-bound in their pots, so I think if you move it into a smaller pot with a well-draining soil mix, it should dry out much faster. To hell reduce the risk of shock from being repotted, I’d pick up some Bonide’s Rooting Hormone Powder and cover the roots in it before placing it in a new pot and soil. It’ll reduce the risk of shock from the repot and help it grow new roots faster. Hope this helps 😊
