Hello, I got two hibiscus last year around the same time (maybe a month or two apart) this summer. They seemed to be doing well (lots of new leaves and nice glossy leaves) but now that the seasons are changing I’ve noticed they aren’t as happy. They are near a vent but in the summer when cool air would have been blowing on them they were okay so I figured warm air would be too. My bigger one has been getting yellow leaves left and right and is super droopy and sad, the smaller one isn’t as bad but is still not at its peak (the smaller one is closer to the vent and only a little higher, although as far as I can tell they are both getting the same amount of sun) Ive never gotten flowers from either but I figured that was just because they are inside and my room is pretty cold, however now that it’s warming up they seem to be doing worse. The picture is of the worse of the two but my camera can’t seem to pick up it’s droopiness I guess lol

could it possibly be sick? The color of the droopy leaf is pointing to that. I’m not fairly certain

Do you know what it could be. I haven’t bought any new plants recently and it hasn’t moved much since I got it for it to have been exposed to anything

I would also like to add that I am watering as the soil drys out (not too much bc know they like moisture but if it could be humidity I could see about adding rocks to the pan below it)

What hardiness zone are you in, and have your hibiscus only ever been kept indoors? Warm air blowing on them can dry them out pretty quickly, so they often need to be watered a bit more frequently—but not necessarily given more water at once. Hibiscus really thrive in full sun, so if yours has only been indoors, that could explain the lack of blooms or slower growth. I picked up a hibiscus around this time last year, too, and depending on your zone, we’re basically just keeping them alive until spring and summer when they really take off.

They have only been inside for now but I’m hoping to take them outside next summer now that they are more established. I’m in hardiness zone 7a so hopefully they will do well outside. I’m going to say it probably has something to do with watering as I haven’t been as on top of it as I normally am so unless it looked super sad (which it did a few times) I only watered it when Planta said to. I’ll try watering a little more frequently and moving it a little farther from the vent (sadly that is my brightest window and all of my windows have vents below them)

I don’t think you need to water more, I think she’s been a bit overwatered. Use the Planta reminders to check on your plants but be sure to check their moisture levels before you water. I like to use chopsticks to poke down into the pot. If you can, gently pull them out of their pot and check the roots. If they are firm and white they are healthy but any brown or mush indicates there is root rot.
