My snake plant is super wilted and idk why :( I repotted it last week and it’s been fine up until the last few days. Someone said it’s just growing but it’s most definitely wilting now (unless I’m just being dramatic?) but idk it looks sickly to me, the stem parts of a couple of the larger leaves got super weak so I pruned them but now they’re all that way and won’t stand up really at all

Do you have any recommendations for types of pots?

The pot should be just a little bigger than the rootball, and make sure it has a drainage hole on the bottom. When the pots too big a couple things happen, the plants foliage growth becomes stunted due to the plant spending energy growing its root structure, and the soil without roots of an overpotted plant will stay wet since there arent any roots there, wet soil doesnt get any oxygen and the roots suffocate, this along with wetness can lead to root rot. If you only watered a small amount and let it dry out inbetween waterings then having it in a big pot can work sometimes but still isnt the best scenario for plant

Got it thank you. Literally about to go get a smaller pot right now. Will the larger pot be okay as the plant gets larger?

Eventually lol, id get eyes on the roots and see the size of the rootball before u go grab a pot, while ur at it check the roots for any rot. Good luck and happy growing!

Totally agree with AJ! Also this is a spider plant not a snake plant, so they prefer a bit more humid areas! I’m not sure where you live but bathrooms are a great spot if it’s drier in your house. They don’t like the soil to be drier than the air and vice versa. They like bright light but not direct sun.

If you have a bright window in the bathroom that would be perfect! Since you keep your air on I’d try to put it as far from the air vents as possible. The blowing air near the soil could be affecting your watering without you even realizing. Hope everything goes well with it!

It looks rotten in the middle. Remove the plant from the soil to check. It will be difficult to recover if most of the core roots are rotten. Carefully dispose of the plant and soil if the plant is unrecoverable. It may have pests. Wear gloves. The white bits look like remnants of mealybugs or fungus, likely pests, since the soil doesn’t show signs of fungus. Both mealybugs and fungus can quickly spread. Alcohol wipes on the area or a fungicide can clear the white bits. I agree with everyone that the pot is too big for such a small root system and plant. The roots can’t dry up all the water. So, they sit in water too long and rot. The pot size should be just wide enough to hold the roots while with 1/2” or 1” more diameter to allow root growth. See the pic of mine in a 3 inch pot. Additionally, it’s planted too deep which can partially block light and airflow. Good airflow dries out the soil and helps with drying plant transpiration (similar to plant perspiration 😁), part of the plant cycle where the plant gets rid of moisture and oxygenates the environment. Good luck 🍀🪴
