It has good new growth on the other end of my golden pothos, but the back leaves are starting to yellow and get spots, is there a way to reverse this?? is there any way to prevent this from continuing?

Root rot. Which is caused by overly saturated soil. Overly wet soil can be a result of overwatering, bad drainage, or heavy soils. Repot with draining holes in pot, with ordinary/ well draining pot soil.

your pot might be a little big for the plant. the pot should only be 1-2” bigger than the roots/rootball. being in too big of a pot can cause issues similar to this.

Mine recently did this when I repotted too large/deep. It was retaining too much moisture. I repotted again into something smaller and it’s doing better. Mine was definitely happier when it’s roots were practically exploding out the drainage holes!
