Hi! This is my first time growing basil. Most of the row is doing really well however, I spotted this today. Idk if something’s eating it or if it’s some kinda disease? Help!

I’m guessing something is snacking on it. It tends to ward off insects and prevent them from eating other plants but there are a few critters that will eat I t. My basil is nearly 3 feet tall and every so often I spot a leaf or two like that. If the plant is still small I’ll leave the leaf to help with photosynthesis. Once it’s about a foot tall I’ll pinch off leaves like that.

Thank you so much! I thought it might be getting eaten but I wasn’t sure. I’ve been trying to find ladybugs or something to help pest control but no luck so far. They’re also going after my microgreens, whatever’s snacking on this.

You might given them a neem oil spritz (1 tbsp neem oil, 1 tsp Castile soap, 1 liter warm water) to discourage hungry bugs. Just be sure to apply it early morning or evening to prevent it from scorching in the hot sun (I usually do it around dusk).
