I'm a new plant mom and have about 10 indoor plants in my room and the place I bought one of my plants (Home Depot) it had fungus gnats now they have gone to my other plants. I have done the hydrogen peroxide treatment and sticky traps paired with Zevo. The number of adults has gone down but still have some lingering, very few. What's ways to get rid of them and ways to keep them away after treatments

    sticky traps to place in your pot are lifesavers but i still have yet to grab some for myself lol. i’ve and a fungus gnat problem almost this entire season and i’m using a zevo trap with the on-contact spray and it’s helped quite a bit. but investing in the sticky traps is definitely worth the buy and they’re fairly cheap as well :)

    also it doesn’t help with every single pest but i’m new to plant owning as well and my mom has gifted me “Maggie’s Farm” garden spray you can just find at Walmart and it’s helped me with a bunch of other pests prevention!!

    Sprinkle this on top of soil. Dampen with water. It kills the eggs and prevents from hatching. I use this whenever I bring a plant home regardless if I see gnats or not. Also reapply after a couple of weeks to get all stages. I also put little bowls of sugar water with a drop of dawn around the plants. Attracts the adults and they drown. I am persistent and do not have any more issues. There is also a pesticide drops I put in water when watering plants. I don’t mess around 😂

    Death drops and sticky traps have definitely gotten mine under control. There still is the occasional one that buzzes around, but I think that's just going to be the case when you have a house full of plants.

    To add to the comment of using the bonide powder that is mentioned above^ I mix it in with my soil and apply it to the top soil when it is dry as a treatment, using peppermint oil spray and captain jacks dead bug spray is great for keeping foliage clean and pest free. Peppermint is a natural pest deterrent. Watering the soil with a mix of hydrogen peroxide and water (you can look this measurement up online) can kill the eggs & pests in the soil, & is good for soil aeration as needed which helps healthy root growth. Also, using mosquito bits to soak in my water (kind of like making a bug killing tea lol) before watering kills pests. Always quarantine new plants/infected plants from healthy existing plants in your home to prevent the spread of pests. I use all of these methods in combination as needed & have over 100 house plants and keep them all relatively pest free using these methods. You can get everything you need that is mentioned here from Amazon too, hope this helps! 🐝

    Also, never keep your soil constantly moist or soggy as this is what pests love. Overwatering is the killer of joy!😂

    If that’s what has been working for your peace lily, yes! If you’re ever unsure about when to water your plants though you can get a moisture meter - they’re cheap. You just stick it In The soil and it tells you how wet it is. That can help you gauge how often you should be watering & how well your soil is draining

    Sprinkle cinnamon powder on top of the soil, so any baby gnats have trouble emerging from soil and die. Also in a small dish of water add a couple drops of dish soap & a tsp of sugar in it will attract any adult gnats nearby.

    Sounds like you might need to change the soil to fully remove them. That's what I had to do, I found a better soil mix and haven't had any troubles so far.

    Mosquito Bits! Put some in your watering can, let it soak for a little bit and then use it to water your plants. If you do this every watering they will all be gone in about a month or so.

      Mosquito Bits or the liquid equivalent, Microbe-Lift, is all you need besides the sticky yellow traps. I have 200+ plants with no gnat issues. Directions are on the packages. Carefully read the warnings on the Bomide Systemic granules. You must wear PPE equipment like masks and gloves to use. The dust can cause lung cancer per the manufacturer’s warnings. 🪴🍀
