My monstera Thai con has a tiny brown dot (~ 1mm long) and two brown lines on either side of the sheath part or the stem (~ 1cm). Is it due to humidity? Or is the grow light too strong? (It’s 10W, she’s getting indirect light from it). 😬 I know it’s small but I’m hoping if I catch it now, it won’t turn into a bigger issue later on! 😭🙏

That could be normal. How does the entire plant look?

it has the tiny brown line (top image) and small brown dots on the leaf (I’m not worried about the dots on this leaf though - my other plant has this too and it hasn’t spread in months so that’s not my worry!). The rest of the leaves (like in the third picture) are doing great! Just worried the stem (with the brown line and dot in the original post picture) will spread/rot! 😄

The brown line is not an issue unless it significantly spreads. Just watch it awhile. Check for pests. If none, then, The leaf dots are likely edema where the roots send too much water to cells and the cells burst. It happens. Nothing to worry about if you are not over watering. The rest of the plant looks great. Doesn’t look overwatered. 🪴🍀🪴

phew thank you! I used the drown technique when watering her last, must’ve been too much all at once! I’ll do a lighter watering next time

You should not lightly water. You should saturate the soil until you see water coming out the bottom within a few seconds, indicating a good drainage rate. Then, let the plant freely drain about 15 minutes before putting it back into a decorative pot or any container without drain holes. Lightly watering can cause the roots to stay only at the top of the soil, slowing the growth of the plant.
