Good morning! I’m having an issue with my snake plant. For the first time in four years, there’s a change in this plant. I went to water it today, and noticed one of the leaves has turned brown and is squishy at the base of the plant. Doing some research, it may be due to overwatering or root rot, but I wanted to see if anybody had any other opinions. I’ve decided to skip watering it today just in case. Any advice?

It probably is overwatering. That has happened to me before. If the soil is soggy wet, repot it so it doesn’t stay in too much water and have more problems. Otherwise, skip watering for a bit and just remove the mushy leaves.

I cannot keep these alive for more than a few years. I can't tell you hopw many I've bought within 20 years or so. I barely water them but i think when i do water i end up watering to much in one setting. Is the soil still wet? If so then skip the water until the next time. That's all i have to help you. 😂🙈🙈🙈

I have 4 snake plants they love neglect! I water mine when bone dry in the sink and soak it. Let drain completely and make sure you are using well draining soil. I use succulents soil and fertilizer on them.

I ran into the odd squishy leaf when my snake plant was over watered and the temperature dropped and was too cold.

Thank you all for the suggestions! The soil is currently dry, but I’ll leave it for another couple weeks just to be sure before watering again. This is the first time it’s happened so if another leaf starts showing signs I’ll likely repot
