Hi, everyone! I’m relatively new to plants and would love your feedback. My pink valentine is unwell and I first thought it was because I watered twice with tap water when it should have been distilled/filtered water. Today I saw this critter (3rd photo) and tried to snap photos. Is this thrips? Can the plant be saved? Thanks for your help!

How often are you watering? I find that people say to keep aglaonema moist but i let mine dry out like 90% of the way, if not fully dry before watering again. I water with tap but the city water in my hometown is pretty dang clean. I’d probably pull it out of the pot to look at the root health.

Thanks for responding! I water when dry too and use a moisture meter. Is that some type of critter on the stem?

I’m not sure to be honest. It doesn’t look like any pests I’ve seen. When’s the last time it was fertilized?

Those pink varieties were my nemesis in the greenhouse! Easy to over water and yet they don't like to be underwater. I would air on the underwater inside while shooting for evenly moist. Your pesky visitor could very well be a trip but I'm not sure. I would do a preventative treatment of horticultural oil or maybe Captain Jack's. Thrips are often attracted to flowers but still it does look like an early stage of thrips.

Thank you for replying! I think it’s thrips too and so does the Planta auto diagnose. I’m so sad! I’m learning the hard way about pink plants. It’s my favorite color, so I love most of them. I have a drama queen pink polka dot too.

You should check out the article called "ultimate care guide to indoor varigated plants" at lovethatleaf.com. A long article but very informative
