Hi! Mom to this new alocasia! I got it on sale but after I brought it home, some leaves (this is the third) have turned completely yellow. I havent overwatered it. Not sure if it’s a lighting issue

I cut the other two yellow leaves off and it seems to be spreading
0개 좋아요It may be root bound or root rot. I would check the roots if you haven’t recently. It might need to be repotted. Other than that I would guess that it might not be getting enough light. If you can, I would move it to an area where it gets more light & see if it starts to clear up the yellowing. Good luck!!
0개 좋아요I recently repotted it because it was root bound when I bought it so i thought maybe it was stressed out lol. Thank you!!
좋아요 1개You’re welcome! I hope it starts looking happier for you!
좋아요 1개Repotting right after bringing it home can add additional stress from disrupting the water intake of the roots caused by disturbed or broken roots. The first stress is adapting to the new environment. It needs the lighting it had in the store. New water and fertilizer can cause changes as well. Plants typically need about a month to adapt.

좋아요 1개I’ve also heard that alocasias loooveee plant food. You could try to give it some at the next watering!
2개 좋아요They do! I make my own with dirty fish tank water. Chuck a mosquito dunk in it, a cap of potassium, magnesium and iron, couple drops of tropical plant food and some cinnamon sticks… all my babies are pushing out new growth daily since the switch up
