I’ve been struggling with my velvet philodendron for a few months now. It has these spots which I’m scared is scale. Does anyone know what this might be? I’ve read it could be normal sometimes but it keeps dropping leaves.

Looks like it’s not getting enough light due to the long vines without leaves. Also, it might be overwatered. I wait until my soil is dry and the pot feels a bit light before I water. Mine also gets a lot of light and is thriving. Don’t give up on it! 🙂

if there’s no sign of pests it’s just extrafloral nectaries! little sugar productions that they push out that end up burning the leaves,, micans are such a pain with it, im always checking to make sure it’s not buggies anyways
4 likesIt’s EFN. I’ve had the same issue with micans. The leaves need to be washed off regularly or these spots will show up.
0 likesOhhh that’s what it is. A lot of my philodendron have this and I quarantined all of them not knowing this is what it is 😂
1 likeYep. A lot of philodendron produce EFN like this. I do a thorough wash off of the leaves on my Micans, Melanochrysm, Glorious, and El Choco Red with every watering.
