accidentally snapped the stalk of my money tree. It’s still intact but it’s for sure broken. Will the plant heal? What can I do to help it along? This was my first house plant I got several years ago 😫

Money trees cam be grafted. So if you could keep it lined up, it may heal

Is it advisable to tape the stalk?

Yea, i would look up grafting. But I have a parafilm for grafting. It's basically cling film. Ypu just have to be careful because it doesn't breath like the paper tapes. So you usually want to take it off as soon as you can.

You can put a butterfly clip over the split and stabilize it be clipping onto a bamboo trellis. I removed all dried areas at the cut line to get a good fusion. I used this on my expensive Hoya Loyceandrewsiana that was snapped during packaging. That was a year ago. The plant fused itself back together. It added a lot of growth and huge leaves this past summer. I still keep the clip on.

Here is the Hoya in September showing the sap is flowing well across the break. The plant doubled in size in about 9 months. This is a big thick stemmed and heavy hoya in its original plastic pot. So, I had to move the clip off the split when the plant started pushing over the trellis.

You can certainly do the grafting, but if you just cut it off it would simply grow more shoots from lower down the trunk, and you could very likely propagate the top with a rooting compound.

Thank you so much for the input. I’m going to try and stabilize the broken area with a clip and a pole like a brace for a broken bone.

Also wanted to say it’s super cool that I got input from other plant people so quickly! Thanks everybody!
