Can anyone tell me what’s going on with my Alocasia? I moved it away from a window once I saw this happening because I thought maybe it was the change of seasons here in NJ. It’s been so healthy and I haven’t changed anything with her care. I water when my water meter shows she’s dry and keep under a grow light. I add pant food when watering as well.

Mine is doing the same. I repotted it into a slightly larger pot. The roots were coming out the bottom but they were very healthy. I’m hoping the repotting has helped so you may want to look at yours. Mine seemed healthy otherwise except for the yellowing leaves.

Thank you but a couple leaves have been lost to the yellowing problem. I have other plants with leaves doing the same thing. Still have not figured out what’s going on with each one. I’ve been following Planta’s fertilization schedule but coming to the conclusion that some of the plants need more. So doing more often plus I’ve added silicate concentrate to their fertilizer water. Just started so don’t have results yet.

I've been impressed with the silica. Especially on the albos. If you're not seeing any pests, do you think the roots are too far down the pot?

When I repotted my Polly, roots were thru the entire pot but concentrated at the bottom. New pot is just a little wider but deeper. And looking mighty fine showing no distress from the repotting.

Mine are also doing that. I have read to add humidity to area so have been using humidifier regularly. Keeping fingers crossed that this works but won’t know for sure until I get a new leaf!

I think your correct it was the cold window. If the leaf started to yellow, moving it usually won't stop the process. By plantfood you mean fertilizer? You only want to fertilizer every 2-3 weeks. Most people drop back to every 4-6 or not at all in winter when growth slows down.

Mine is located over a foot from well insulated windows. I thought that was possible issue but checking the temps, I don’t think it was the cause for mine turning yellow.

I agree. Wish I could pick Wolfen’s brain with a few questions but no way to send messages. So I’m just going to post and hope it gets seen.

I finally caught on to the "if you push the little bell 🔔 on the home page you actually see all of the notifications and not just 10." A msging would be nice on here. We need like a Planta discord channel 😆 🤣

If it’s getting a little chilly it may just be going dormant!! Nothing to worry about and is actually very healthy for alo’s 💚

So I zoomed in on the pictures and I see lots of little white dots, if that isn’t dust then I’m going to say it’s probably spider mites which will do this. Alocasias are especially prone to them and this happened to mine and it took me a while to figure it out. I lost all but two leaves. I would say inspect to verify if it is or isn’t and if it is spider mites, cut the dying leaves off, give the leaves a shower, the. Spray with a mix of water and Castile soap every few days for a couple weeks and they’ll go away. I treat my plant room every week with my soap water spray because my alocasias are brats and keep attracting them. Also quarantine and check surrounding plants

Omg Josie - I am mortified I didn’t notice that! I had already cut those leaves off so I couldn’t go back and look at the actual plant but I can see it in the picture also. I sprayed her down and will be treating her. I don’t see anymore right now but I know they can be in soil. Thank you!
