PLEASE HELP! I am going insane. I have a lot of plants in my room and the fungus gnats love to party in them. I think their population in my room is decreasing, then BAM hundreds more. I have tried sooooooo many things. Vinegar traps, sticky traps, those light sticky traps, cinnamon, neem oil, hydrogen peroxide, bottom watering, drying them out. I am going to bleach my drains tomorrow and try watering my plants with mosquitoes dunks at some point soon. I would repot but the gnats keep getting into the soil and I definitely don’t have enough for all of them, I also don’t think I have good quality soil. If yall have ANY tips to get rid of annoying bugs that love to fly right in my face or good soil brands then PLEASE SHARE.

Microbiolift, 1-2 drops per gallon, every watering. You need to keep administering it for months. And really continually if you bring new plants or dirt in regularly.

I've been using this for like 4-5 months I think. On all 400+ plants (the exception being Carnivorous)And rarely see a gnat. It took about 2 months to get to zero though, as any plant that's missed can be seeded with eggs. And the cycle starts again.

I totally understand what you’re going through, have plants in my rooms and no matter what I do there are gnats. Now the gnats are less but I still catch one or two every week. Here are some tips that worked for me. Use a zeevo fly trap (they work best at night with no light at all). Bottom watering also helps and make sure not to overwater and give plants extra light so the soil dries faster. If you know a plant has gnats use hydrogen peroxide on the soil to kill any eggs and totally isolate the plant. A month ago I had horrible gnats so put every single one of my plants in a different room. It helped and I found the plant with the gnats but you need to keep whatever you are doing up or they come back. Also neem oil helps to keep them away.

Have you tried the "old fruit in a cup" yet? You get a plastic cup , put old fruit in it, put plastic wrap on the cup and seal it with a rubberband. Poke little holes with a toothpick in the plastic wrap, when its pretty full get another piece of plastic wrap and put on top so they don't get out and make a mad dash to the dumpster or garbage outside. Do this in several different places. A grocer told me years ago that they do this to get rid of them. I've done it and it worked for me. Keep doing that until they are all gone. Botton water while doing this.

Im definitely not an expert and still a newbie but it could be the soil is already contaminated. I would start by getting good quality soil and repot.
