This new croton looked good when I bought it a few weeks ago, but now it’s rapidly dropping leaves and I’m not sure what’s wrong. I’ve been using a water meter, but it seems to be very unhappy.

    That happened to my croton and I realized it needed humidity so I started misting. It stopped dropping leaves.

    Crotons like a lot of bright light or full sun all day. They do well in higher humidity environments. Try increasing the light by putting it in a southern window and increasing humidity. You could try add a grow light if needed. Water when the soil mostly dries out. Check for wetness with your fingers or a tool like a chopstick/wooden meat skewer. The water meters are not 100% reliable. 🪴🍀

      Thanks, Sunny! I’m in north Idaho, so I may need to use a grow light for these darker months -and my humidifier 😉!
