When I had them I just wiped my leaves with isopropyl alcohol and then sprayed the soil with a mixture of neem oil, iso alc, dish soap and water

When I tried the neem oil, soap and water mixture for gnats, I got mold growing on the top soil of my plant’s pot. Did you get a little bit too when you used that method? Or is something I’m doing wrong?

Honestly no I never got mold 🤔 Maybe it’s just not getting enough sunlight so mold is growing because it’s drying out too slow? I’m not sure

Mold needs moisture to grow on the soil. Fungus gnats thrive when the top soil stays moist. They lay their eggs in it. Soapy water and neem oil only kills the adults. It typically doesn’t affect the gnat larvae living in the soil. Mixing Mosquito Bits with water every time you water kills the larvae and ends the life cycle. Yellow sticky traps catches the flying adults. Let the soil dry before watering again. Fungus gnats hate that. Remove all moss, rocks and other items off the soil. They slow evaporation. Increase airflow around the plants to dry the soil and the moisture from the plants.

Those do not look like mealy bugs to me. They are normally white fuzzy. I’ve dealt with mealy bugs a few times and spider mites maybe twice. So I’m not familiar with thrips or anything else. I’m just saying you need to research what they may be or hopefully someone else will respond with another possibility. Because from what I’ve read, if they are thrips, you need to treat asap.
