hi planties! i need some help :( i went to water my smaller heart leaf philo today and this small clear orb was on the top of the soil? this is the first one ive found in my plants and it looks to me like an egg? there was a tiny white bug i saw when i pulled it out, but i don’t see any movement otherwise to catch a pic. can someone help me identify this and help with next steps to avoid an infestation? i have ~50 plants and most within close range of each other.
there is clear fertilizer balls that they put in some potting soil mixes, is it soft or hard ?
2개 좋아요 that’s what i thought to! one of the fertilizers i have does have them, but i didn’t think they expanded much (i have no idea really) i didn’t want to touch it, but it seemed a lil squishy. i threw it in the trash and it’s lost :( thank you for your help! if i find another ill be better about the pic and squishing it
2개 좋아요 It’s okay 👍🏼 you could do a diluted hydrogen peroxide mix and add it to the soil if you’re worried about eggs of any kind, it also prevents fungus gnats. If you look up “hydrogen peroxide plants” on tiktok there is so many videos of people explaining the benefits

좋아요 1개 here’s what the fertilizer looks like though? i’d say the orb was about twice the size of the dry ones and didn’t have any of the color. i started using this fertilizer a month or so ago, so i might be paranoid. if it is just that thank goodness lol
I had this same fear the first time I saw them but after hours of rabbitholing I was very confident they’re just fertilizer balls :)

It’s probably fertilizer… it expands once water hits it
