What is my peace lily trying to tell me with these leaves? Too much water or not enough? I feel like I’m getting mixed messages!

I think maybe too much water but low humidity. Increase humidity (warning: manually misting DOES NOT HELP and is bad for it) and stop watering as much. Use a chopstick or a skewer, stick it into the top inch of soil and pull it out if it’s dry/slightly moist but NOT damp or wet then you can water.

I'm not sure misting is actually bad for them. I have heard that the sudden humidity spike and then the drop back down to normal can be hard on them, but I mist my plants and it doesn't hurt them. I don't believe misting will help for this type of humidity issue tho. Misting really only helps when new leaves are coming in with brown spots because they've been having trouble unfurling. So yes, you'll probably need to use a humidifier.

Misting is only bad for plants when the humidity is already high! If your house is below 40% (which it likely is) then I wouldn’t worry! It’s only helpful if you mist a couple times a day! Regardless I do it because it’s fun

Yep - no tap water for these plants. Like Calatheas, spider plants and some varieties of Ficus, they’re strictly Evian drinkers 🙄
