Hey. Urgent help please!!! Me and my eves needle cactus have been together since I was born lol. And I’m really worried about her. She’s in full sun, in my window and I never over/under water (from what I believe anyway). She is very old and sat happily in my nanas conservatory until I moved her in with me in my new house. Well she didn’t like the move and is not looking too happy with me. Ever since I remember she’s had a little brown patch on top of her and now it’s just getting bigger. PLEASE- if there’s anything you think it could be. She’s also dropping her needles. Thank you!!

I’m sorry I can’t help you with your cactus, but your orchid looks great!

I did think that would be the only way! Just worried it’s a bigger problem that will continue

    How often do you water?

I go for every 20-25 days. I do a light water and fertilise on the 3rd water cycle. I do change when I’m watering based on her needs, if she looks way too dry (no moister when I stick my finger in soil) I water a bit earlier, but if she’s too wet I leave it a bit longer

That shriveling can be from either over watering, under watering, or lack of lighting. Under watering can seem counter-intuitive because letting the soil dry out and waiting so long between watering can give the impression that when watering, it should just be a trickle. Consider that in a desert setting, rain storms aren’t frequent, but when it does rain, it rains hard. I’m not saying this is what’s wrong, but it’s something to consider. I would take the plant to a nursery when it’s time to water and ask them to water it. Then you can see for yourself if you’re spot on or if you need to modify. I have every one of my cactuses under grow lights. A window isn’t typically a desert setting. I know that may not be helpful, since I’m not zeroing in on any single cause. Definitely take it to a nursery. Even a few nurseries to get second opinions. Obviously, don’t have all all the nurseries water it. 😂

How long has it been since the move? Maybe still acclimating to the new environment?

Hmmmm you might be overwatering, but you could try cutting the top off. FUI, it will callous over, and that’s normal. (If you cut the top off.) It’s a beautiful plant and I hope it gets better soon!!
