     I just got him and I use reverse osmosis water exclusively. I added a good 10-10-10 plus fertilizer at half strength last watering.

   There will be a little browning tips inevitably. I use distilled water about 1x per week. A little liquid fertilizer in the water 2x a month. Hang in east window. If you repot, do not go bigger with the pot. I generally go by the rule if you see the dirt in the surface pot for spider plants, it is in too large of pot. You have quite a bit of soil surface already. It likes to get root bound in a smaller pot before repotting and gradually moving up. So I would guess some of the browning is moist soil for too long.

   Browning tips are something that I deal with on my spider plant too, even with distilled water mine still brown , I would cut only the brown parts but it is not necessary for it to be cut
