I have a Hoya rope plant that I’ve had for years, and I love it dearly, but it has a reoccurring mealybug issue that I just cannot seem to get it to shake! I currently have it soaking in the hopes that it will help this current infestation but I am at my wits end, no matter how often I wipe it down, or soak it, or do any other kind of maintenance care, it just seems to keep coming back. Any suggestions on what to do about this insect menace?

Have you changed the soil? I think they can live in there

Mealys on a Hoya rope would be my nightmare. To help prevent future issues, try using a systemic soil treatment such as Bonide. But for the present, do the alcohol swab thing and then spray with insecticidal soap about every 5 days for two months. That should work. Of course check for new invaders every time you spray.
